From consulting with many employers who have not been involved in training or who have decided not to continue with a training programme we have discovered that the cost involved in recruiting and training a young person is more than recruiting a person who is already trained. Some young people are more suitable than others for a training place, this can relate to a number of facts such as personality, commitment, enthusiasm etc. In assessing the suitability for training with members of this group the production of a CV is not very useful because there are very little experiences that can be included with the exception of hobbies and leisure time activities. We are also aware that some CV`s are written on behalf of applicants by a third party and because of this are an unreliable source of information. Many employers indicated that it was not the training that caused problems but the costs associated with the recruitment of the right candidate. |
